Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 is the monster truck of cameras. It’s an all weather, all terrain camera that will take the worse possible climate extremes and still churn out fabulous images in all their 10.2 megapixel glory. What’s more this camera is fast, at 10 frames per second or 600 images per minute it is possibly the fastest still photography camera out there.

Of course it can also take HDTV video at 720p. The Cybershot DSC-TX5 is a heavy duty point and shoot for the serious professional as well as the avid amateur.

The DSC-TX5 comes with a Exmor R CMOS image sensor that is a significant advancement over the CCD based image sensor in other similarly priced cameras.

The CMOS image sensor implies that the camera is way faster than any other non CMOS based image sensor driven camera. This camera is great for taking multiple exposures of a fast moving subject without switching to video. At 10 images per second it’s great for imaging sports events.

The lens on the DSC-TX5 is the car zeiss vario-tessar 25mm wide angle lens with 4x optical zoom. This particular lens actually allows close ups at up to half an inch with focus. The anti-motion blur mode is another nifty feature that makes for amazingly sharp captures of fast moving subjects.

The way it works is by increasing shutter speed taking six images in the fraction of a second, combining those images into a single high resolution crisp image with minute details preserved. This is not possible with any other normal camera in this price range.

Adorable features

The TX5 has the Exmor-R CMOS image sensor at its heart. This is a revolutionary advancement over earlier image sensors. The noise reduction is phenomenal with this sensor coupled with the Bionz image processor.

The technology translates into extremely crisp, blur free captures of fast moving subjects. The anti-motion blur mode is another nifty feature that improves capture quality when dealing with movement or unsteady hands.  The intelligent sweep panorama mode allows users to click a panorama with minimal effort. The hand held twilight mode on this camera makes taking sharp night mode pictures very simple.  Another nifty feature is the self portrait face detection timer wherein the timer kicks in only after your face enters the frame thus removing the uncertainty from self timer pictures. The support for memory stick pro duo gives the camera a theoretical capacity of 32Gb.
